POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the general direction of the Principal Investigator(s), Director(s), or designee, the Implementation Support Specialist III aids organizations, leaders, and staff in implementation of innovations by identifying, contextualizing, and improving the use of implementation strategies across a range of settings and building capacity among teams, organizations, and systems. This position involves working with UMass Chan team members and external partners in co-creation and engagement activities, on-going improvement and support, and sustainability efforts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Promote and facilitate active involvement of stakeholders in all stages of the design and implementation process, resulting in service models, approaches, and practices that are contextualized and tailored to local settings.
  • Develop and regularly convene implementation groups and teams with diverse stakeholders. Promote other network weaving to connect people strategically where there is a potential for mutual benefit
  • Connect otherwise disconnected individuals or groups in the system by providing advice and serving as a relational resource.
  • Prepare teams, organizations, and systems for changes necessary for implementation, which may include among other activities building tension for change, modifying workflow, enhancing organizational readiness
  • In collaboration with stakeholders, identify and prepare champions or other leaders with potential to positively influence implementation efforts.
  • Support teams, organizations, and systems in selecting, operationalizing, tailoring, and adapting innovations.
  • Develop operational processes and resources for building staff knowledge, skills, and motivation
  • Participate in identification, collection, analysis, and monitoring of meaningful data related to implementation efforts. Engage leadership, staff, and stakeholders in efforts to use data for improvement.
  • Model the use of knowledge, skills, behaviors, attitudes, and practices for stakeholders to demonstrate application in a real-world setting.
  • Coach stakeholders to use new knowledge, skills, behaviors, attitudes, and practices in their daily work so that partners can gain confidence and competency.
  • Advance the sustainability of innovations by helping teams, organizations, and systems develop a shared vision and accountability by promoting existing relationships, problem solving and resource sharing.
  • Recruit, select, and supervise other implementation support specialists, interns and other staff
  • Provide direct backup for the Principal Investigator(s), Director(s) as appropriate
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support implementation efforts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree or higher
  • 5+ years of professional experience that involves planning activities, teamwork, communication, collaboration with diverse stakeholders. Experience with these activities during academic programs and advanced training will be accepted.
  • Empathetic, curious, strong critical thinking skills, committed to change initiatives, committed to advancing equity in implementation efforts, embraces cross-disciplinary approaches.
  • Computer proficiency: ability to use email, spreadsheets, and other applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

The Implementation Support Specialist III will work with the Massachusetts Center of Excellence for Specialty Courts core and affiliated projects. The Center aims to improve the lives and outcomes of people involved with and impacted by the criminal-legal system through its mission of bringing innovative, evidence-based, and equitable interventions to Specialty Courts and related settings. The Centers organizational structure includes three divisions: Research, Evaluation & Policy Division, Equity Division, and the Implementation & Translation Division (learn more about the Center here: https://macoe.org/).

This position will work across multiple projects at the intersection of the criminal-legal system and behavioral health. A strong candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, the ability to facilitate meetings with diverse stakeholder groups, be experienced with project management, and evidence of a commitment to equity, inclusion, and belongingness.
