Under the general direction of the Deputy Executive Vice Chancellor of Operations (DEVCO), ForHealth Consulting, the Managing Director (MD), Health Systems Solutions (HSS) leads and oversees the HSS division. ForHealth Consulting partners with purposeful organizations to enhance healthcare experiences, making them more equitable, effective, and accessible.

The MD is responsible for strategic and operational leadership, including developing, implementing, and evaluating HSSs strategies across its service lines: Clinical Delivery & Workforce Development, Health & Equity, and Operations & Performance Excellence. This role involves managing a budget of over $120M and creating a vision for shared services.

Key duties include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Developing healthcare system strategies with senior leaders and managing the HSSs comprehensive activities.
  • Operational Oversight: Overseeing daily operations, ensuring alignment with the strategic plan, and adjusting as necessary
  • Business Development: Building and maintaining relationships with key partners and stakeholders, including government entities, clinical systems, and consulting firms.
  • Internal Management: Directing internal strategies for workforce development, project management, and process improvement.
  • External Relations: Acting as an ambassador for ForHealth Consulting to maximize healthcare impact and leveraging networks to promote best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Lead the HSS division, ensuring all employees align with the vision of ForHealth Consulting and HSS.
  • Cultivate a respectful and collaborative workplace, fostering equitable and thoughtful conflict resolution and decision-making.
  • Set the strategic direction of HSS in conjunction with the EVC, ForHealth Consulting and the DEVCO, implementing an integrated organizational structure across key areas:
      • Clinical Delivery & Workforce Development: Disability & Community-based Services, Disability Evaluation Services, Newborn Screening, and Behavioral Health Workforce Training
      • Health & Equity: Justice & Health Equity Services, Office of the Ombudsman, and Workplace Equity & Inclusion.
      • Operations & Performance Excellence: Nursing Council on Workforce Sustainability, Healthcare Operations, and Clinical Pharmacy Services.
  • Develop and implement short and long term strategies for HSS to meet ForHealth Consultings growth goals. Device a 5-year plan, focusing on operational excellence and outcome-based deliverables.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director, Digital Solutions and ForHealth Consulting IT to align infrastructure with HSSs business strategy. Drive the creation of innovative products that integrate HSS expertise and translate policy into practice.
  • Establish key performance indicators to measure success. Identify opportunities 
  • to increase efficiencies and implement new processes to streamline operations across HSS.
  • In conjunction with the DEVCO, ForHealth Consulting, set the HSS budgets in relation, and proportional to, the margin forecasts of all business units.
  • Meet with the ForHealth Consulting Executive Director of Finance and Controller on a regular basis to review the financial performance of HSS business units.
  • Collaborate with AEVC of Market Growth & Transformation to analyze market segments for growth opportunities. Conduct SWOT analyses and manage risk that could hinder growth, ensuring alignment with ForHealths strategy.
  • Build strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders. Enhance market intelligence and develop effective campaign strategies to support business objectives. Partner with Market Growth & Transformation, Sales & Marketing Strategy, , Office of Management, and ForHealth Consulting Digital Solutions to identify and secure the infrastructure supports needed for operationalizing HSS business strategy.
  • Work with HSS leaders to identify and manage risks that might prevent growth and expansion and identify opportunities to assess continued alignment of products and services with the ForHealth growth strategy.
  • Contribute to a communications program that effectively articulates ForHealth Consultings mission, vision, and goals.
  • Promote diversity and professional development within HSS. Implement leadership programs and succession planning to sustain a robust talent pool.
  • Lead HSS leadership team in addressing organizational challenges. Assist managers in client negotiations and ensure projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Serve as the strategic liaison for health IT efforts representing HSS needs. Collaborate with Digital Solutions to develop and implement strategies that support ForHealth and its clients.
  • Design efficient processes for data collection and sharing. Work with clients to enhance clinical information systems, ensuring high security standards.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
Master's Level Degree or equivalent in business, health services, or health administration.

Licensed or registered healthcare clinician in nursing, allied health, medicine, social work, nutrition, mental health, or related clinical fields.

REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE
10 + years of experience, or equivalent, in either clinical operations, clinical leadership or healthcare operations. This experience should include progressive and proven success in design, execution and evaluation of health delivery programs/systems.
Well-developed financial, operational, and technical skills, together with proven expertise in strategy, organizational design, and innovation.
Prior experience working in a leadership and/or senior level role at a complex, matrixed, and diverse organization. A track record of exceptional leadership ability.
Communication and presentation skills, both oral and written, to interact with clients and to produce reports suitable for both a public and private sector audience is additionally required.
Ability to exercise sound judgment and negotiate with diplomacy and tact.

PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of health care challenges, opportunities, and trends impacting both public sector and private clients; experience and familiarity with state and federal health care models and challenges preferred.
Substantial experience working with state governments and public agency leaders, in roles requiring senior level responsibility.
Deep expertise in the public health business sector including state and federal agencies (Medicare, Medicaid).
Experience and expertise in managing enterprise level projects and domains.
