The Wu Lab in the Gastroenterology Division at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School is seeking a creative, highly organized, and motivated Postdoctoral Associate to join our team. Starting in October 2024, our lab focuses on improving cancer treatment through innovative approaches. We investigate how changes in metabolism and epigenetics contribute to cancer development and immune system evasion, with a particular interest in gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. We aim to uncover mechanisms allowing cancers to escape immune detection and develop new therapeutic strategies using mouse models, cellular immunology, CRISPR-based functional genomics, and single-cell profiling. More information about our research can be found on our website: https://www.mjwulab.org

Experience with cell culture and organoid culture work, mouse models and handling (including experimental procedures such as surgery, imaging, and drug dosing), and familiarity with histology, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, and CRISPR/Cas-based techniques are also important. A background in immunology and/or epigenetics is highly desirable. The candidate should be able to work independently and coordinate multiple projects concurrently, with excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. with post-graduate scientific training in Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cancer Biology, Immunology, Epigenetics, or a related discipline. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of research experience in relevant areas such as Molecular Biology, RNA Biology, Biochemistry, animal modeling, Immunology, Cancer Biology or Epigenetics. Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including qPCR, cloning, and Western blotting, is required.

How to Apply:

Interested applicants should submit the following materials via email to Dr. Meng-Ju Wu (mengjuwu1985@gmail.com): a cover letter describing current research activities and your interest in this position, a current CV (including publications), and contact information for three references, one of which should be your Ph.D. advisor. We offer excellent training opportunities and a competitive salary depending on experience and track record. If you have any of the above attributes and skill sets, and believe you are a good fit for our research program, please apply. Interested candidates must also apply through the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School jobs portal.

We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
