POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pipeline Dreams High School Health Careers Exploration Program supports high school juniors and seniors at an individual and interpersonal level to provide inspiration, motivation, and skills for success in their undergraduate and graduate educational careers in medicine or the health allied fields. This intervention puts students at the forefront of their professional journeys at a young age, empowering them with exposure, connections, and opportunities to enhance their educational performance and life course social and career trajectories.
Under the general supervision of the Director of URiM Community Workforce Development and Capacity Building, the Pipeline Dreams: High School Program Coordinator provides a full range of support services for the success of the Pipeline Dreams program. The position requires independent judgment and initiative, as well as verbal and written communication with program participants, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The responsibilities of the Pipeline Dreams: High School Program Coordinator include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting curriculum development to achieve program learning objectives.
- Contributing to the planning and execution of program sessions and enrichment events to meet program deadlines, milestones, and processes efficiently.
- Collaborating with the Collaborative in Health Equity Program Manager on the Pipeline Dreams program budgeting and financial control.
- Collecting data and compiling program reports.
- Connecting and collaborating with outside organizations to integrate programs, opportunities, and health career enrichment experiences into the program.
- Contributing to the recruitment of program participants, interns, and volunteers from local school districts, community-serving organizations, local higher education institutions, and healthcare providers and organizations.
- Providing and soliciting feedback from program participants, staff, and PRW leadership to implement immediate and long-term solutions for program growth and improvement.
- Contributing to grant writing, fundraising, and reporting processes for program development and management.
- Providing recommendations to enhance the efficiency of program productivity, procedures, and people.
We are seeking a candidate who is enthusiastic about community-based work, youth development, public health, and research.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (preferred)
- 2-3 years of experience in youth development with increasing responsibility
- Background and experience in health-related fields or research
- Proven experience in developing and implementing curriculum, with knowledge of health careers
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to build rapport and trust with program youth, essential for effective mentorship and career development
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with a strong ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and meet performance deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with external partnerships and organizations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of personnel
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work independently
- Willingness to travel to off-site locations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Staff supervisory experience
